Press Release 5/12/14:

Coliseum join the Deathwish Family, “Coliseum” Deluxe Reissue 2XLP/CD out August 19th.

Founded by Louisville musician Ryan Patterson and including Kayhan Vaziri and Carter Wilson, power trio Coliseum have grown to become one of today’s quintessential contemporary punk bands. Successfully melding progressive musicianship, hardcore fervor, and vital social awareness into one constantly evolving artistic vision.

Over the last decade Coliseum have released music on a host of labels including; Temporary Residence, Relapse, Level Plane, Auxiliary (Ryan’s own label), and even Deathwish (“True Quiet / Last Wave” 2009).

And now, 2014 brings Coliseum and Deathwish together again as their permanent label home. “We have a long and storied history with Deathwish and their family of bands,” says Patterson. “Not only did we work with the label on the ‘True Quiet’ 7”, we’ve toured around the world with Deathwish bands, released a split with Doomriders early on, and I’ve been fortunate enough to design a number of Deathwish releases. While Coliseum officially joining the label’s roster is a new chapter for us, it feels like a homecoming.”

To celebrate Coliseum’s 10th anniversary, we are proud to present the “Coliseum” Deluxe Reissue: A twenty song collection featuring their classic self titled debut album (out of print since 2006) paired with eight essential bonus tracks from their primordial years. Originally recorded by Jason Loewenstein of Sebadoh and now fully remixed by Joel Grind of Toxic Holocaust, the release also features new deluxe packaging, insightful liner notes, and cover artwork by John Baizley of Baroness.

Pre-ordering information will be announced soon.

Our new digital live album FAITH AND CURSES: LIVE is available for pre-order on our Bandcamp page or in our official Shirt Killer store with a special tenth anniversary Coliseum “Decade” t-shirt that includes a download code for the album. The live album release date is February 4th. Also available is a limited edition "Decade" 18x24" print, signed and numbered in an edition of 60.

You can stream “Late Night Trains” from the live album now via Stereogum!

We have a special one-off show at Saint Vitus Bar in Brooklyn on Friday, January 31st to kick off our tenth anniversary year. We’re planning a special set list that spans our past decade; from last year’s Sister Faith, to our first album from 2004, and many points in between. Get tickets here: http://www.ticketfly.com/venue/1851

We’ll be returning to Australia this spring for the first time since 2008, as part of the Soundwave Tour. The main Soundwave dates are listed under our tour dates and we will be playing two “Sidewave” shows that will be announced.

We’re looking forward to our first show of 2014, at Saint Vitus Bar in Brooklyn on January 31st. This will mark the beginning of our tenth year as a band. The wonderful poster above was designed by Jay Morris and will be for sale at the show.

This was an incredible year… We released our fourth album, Sister Faith, and it seems to have connected with people in exactly the way we hoped. Since its release we toured hard and heavy across North America, the UK and Europe with Red Hare, Baroness, Narrows, California X, Birds In Row, Xerxes, Girls Against Boys, and finished it up with a wonderful run with Pelican. We can’t thank everyone involved in all aspects of this band enough… From those of you who come to the shows and buy the records, to the people who put out the records, the people who promote them and write about us, book our tours, promote out shows, help us with gear, put us up for the night (or nights), travel with us, share good times with us, and everyone else in between. There are ups and downs but the good times are so wonderful, inspiring, and life-affirming that we can’t help but continue forward in search of the next adventure. Our infinite love to the people who have been part of our touring crew at various points this year: Nic McInturff, Will Allard, Jason Barker, Tomas Mladek, Erik Denno, Alex Fitzpatrick, Kevin Wright, Jon Christopher. It was such a pleasure having you in the van with us and we can’t thank you enough for your help. It was great to end the year with a show in Louisville last night full of smiling faces. See you in 2014.

Thanks to all who came out and supported us on the West Coast tour. Our infinite and most heartfelt thanks to Red Hare for joining us on both coasts this year, the fact that we have been able to witness 12 of their 13 shows is such an honor. We are so happy to have been able to have one of our favorite current bands (whose members happen to have been in bands that inspired and influenced us beyond measure) join us on these adventures. It was such a blast to share a van and share the stage with them. It has been one of the great joys of this Coliseum experience. Thanks to them and to our great friend Erik Denno for joining us as well.

We’ll join Pelican for a quick tour in November that will be our final shows of 2013. We’ve covered a lot of ground this year and have had a lot of great times. Releasing Sister Faith and seeing it connect with people in exactly the way we intended has been possibly the most rewarding thing that has happened over the course of our decade as a band.
